Getting Started

  1. Download the mobile wallet app of your choice.
  2. Add the cards you want to use – like your Equitable Mastercard® Debit Card.
  3. Before setup, call your local branch or 1-877-652-6522 to confirm that we have your correct phone number and address.
    • If this information is wrong, you may not be able to complete setup and could face up to a 60-day wait before using your mobile wallet.

Activating Your Card

Once your card is added, your wallet will send a one-time authentication code. Enter it to activate your token for use. Never share this code. If someone else gets it, they could load your card into their own mobile wallet and make fraudulent purchases.

Make sure NFC (Near-Field Communication) is turned on in your phone settings.

How to Use Your Mobile Wallet

Online: Select your wallet app and choose your card at checkout.
In-store: Hold your phone near a contactless-enabled terminal (about 6″ away).
Mobile wallets use the same NFC technology as tap-to-pay physical cards.

Troubleshooting

If your mobile wallet isn’t working, it may be because:

  • The merchant doesn’t accept mobile or contactless payments
  • Your wallet address doesn’t match the address on your Equitable Mastercard®
  • There are insufficient funds
  • The payment terminal malfunctioned

Security

Mobile wallets encrypt your card information and require your phone’s lock screen authentication (PIN, fingerprint, etc.) before use.
Your actual card number is not stored on your device.
Each card is assigned a virtual card number used only by that wallet on that device.

If your phone is lost:

  • Use your phone’s “find my device” tools
  • Remotely lock or wipe your phone
  • Change your banking password
  • Report any suspicious charges immediately

Avoid Scams

Fraudsters sometimes spoof bank phone numbers and pretend to be bank employees.
They may ask for:

  • Your full card number
  • Your one-time passcode (OTP)

Equitable will NEVER ask for these.
Do not share them with anyone.

Using Multiple Wallets

You can install more than one wallet app, but it may cause conflicts—especially on devices like Samsung phones that offer both Samsung Pay and Google Pay. For best performance, choose one wallet to use on your device.
